I have created this little animated gif from pictures my Mom took of Deborah and I in Corsica (France) rehearsing a contemporary duet later performed in the workshop show. (I’m the one in red and black) I have an awesome memory of this little duet and it’s good to get to see the movement again without having videotaped it!!!!
It will play every 15 seconds…so be patient! You’ll see it again, don’t worry.
The technical side? It was created with Macromedia Fireworks, it has 25 frames spaced out with 40/100 seconds, a 15 second pause and it loops forever. It’s 10 seconds long (actually 25 seconds with the pause in the middle).
I have just discovered this radical Firefox extension by Google that allows you to “clip” in a little notebook anything you come accross on the web.
I have been dying to have a tool like that, because when I want to hold on to a link, I end up emailing myself, and the email gets swamped in the middle of the other emails,…It’s a pain in the butt.
But this little guy allows you to save links, select text on a site and save it with the url it came from and you can add your personal comments on it. How cool!
I realize (unfortunately sometimes) that I am using a lot of Google applications (gmail, analytics, reader, docs and spreadsheets, calendar, video and now notebook)…I can’t help it, I love’em!
“Those lucky pennies have finally paid off…Spirit Airlines just released an incredible “one cent fare” sale. We’re not kidding. You can actually fly between many U.S. cities and even the Caribbean for just a penny! Hurry — though this sale was just announced, you must book your tickets by midnight tomorrow (Thurs., April 19).
Do keep in mind that flights are available on very select dates April 21 - Sept. 30. You’ll often find you can fly one-way for a penny but the return trip will be higher. Regardless, you’ll be getting a terrific deal. ”
The return seems to be no more than $8. Incredible!!
I was cruising around YouTube to find some dance videos in search of inspiration and admiration. And I stumbled upon my favorite piece of choreography from Mia Michaels… “the bench piece” on Fox’s show So You Think You Can Dance.
It’s well worth bringing back.
Doctor Robert Bohannon, a Durham, North Carolina, molecular scientist, invented a way to implement caffeine into donuts.
It even has a little name…the Buzz Donuts™.
Ok, so now let’s break this poison down for a sec.
Donut:A small ring-shaped cake made of rich, light dough that is fried in deep fat. (answers.com) Yummmm…. A ring of dough filled with saturated fat, often coated with lots of yummy sugars and stuffed with creams containing trans fat. How healthy does that sound to you?
Ok, I’ll admit, I eat about 1 a year, because they taste somewhat good. But knowing all the crap that’s in it makes me not want to intake any of it. Solution? Just don’t eat it.
Caffeine:An organic compound found in foods such as chocolate, coffee, cola nuts and tea. Scientific studies have shown that caffeine stimulates the nervous system, kidneys and heart, causes the release of insulin in the body and dilates the blood vessels.(answers.com)
Here’s how caffeine works according to http://coffeetea.about.com:
“Caffeine causes changes in the chemicals of your brain, mainly in 2 ways.
It mimics adenosine, and binds to all the adenosine receptors in your brain. This prevents the real adenosine from doing its job, which happens to be the slowing down of nerve impulses and the causing of drowsiness. So your brain becomes more alert. Caffeine also increases the levels of dopamine in your brain, which improves your feeling of well-being and improves your mood. It’s this dopamine effect that is the root of caffeine’s addictive properties.”
Bottom line, it keeps you awake by fooling your brain and it makes you feel good…How can we resist addiction?
So, by putting an addictive substance into a highly rich food is the road to DEATH! Yes, death. People who need their caffeine so much, and like to eat donuts and know that by eating one of those donuts they’ll get more caffeine than in a regular cup of coffee, they’ll want to eat more of those donuts and clog their arteries, create a heart disease and die.
Dramatic? No, I think, pretty realistic. People get to that critical point without having caffeine and fat in the same bite. It’ll just make it even easier to become a wired obese person.
I am weirdly going through a communicative dryness, which is why I haven’t been posting anything really personal lately.
I am definitely feeling and thinking about lots of things, but can’t quite or don’t feel the need to express them more than maybe a quick list…
-I loved our France trip, but really felt like it was too short or maybe too “travely” and strangely have a hard time talking about it.
-I’m trying to figure out what I really want to do with myself (career). FM? So far, so good, but I’m still doing contract work which puts me in an unstable place.
-I’m sooooooooo frustrated with getting around the city. And living in the city in general right now. Doing the very little bit of things seem to take hours and sooo much effort and lack of control.
-Good things? Well I cooked amazing mushroom croque-monsieurs and a curried broccoli + cheese soup.
-Ah yes, and I signed up to be in a little dance benefit for the homeless, dancing a hip-hop/jazz piece. Fun! But rehearsals happen on Sunday nights, when buses decide they probably don’t need to run anymore and let people stand in the wind and cold with lots of weirdos around coughing and spitting…but the dancing’s fun!
Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m not sad. I’m just in a reflective state more than a communicational state. My mind is a bit blury. But I know that everytime I feel this way, something great follows…patience!
Here I am at 6:36 am on a Saturday morning blogging…What does that mean? Yep, you guessed it, I’m still jet lagged! And it’s been 6 days we’re back from France!!!! It normally takes me 2, to get back on track.
What’s going on? Am I getting older and my body just doesn’t react as quickly as before? Whatever the reason is, it’s very annoying. I did not got to bed later than 9:30pm all week because my whole being was being deprived of any energy left to stay awake past that time.
Thursday night, I went to a dance class thinking it would force me to stay awake longer and couldn’t even finish because I felt like I could fall on my face any time. It was time for me to sleep!
I don’t know what to do…maybe I should take naps whenever I want during the day so that I don’t feel as tired at night. I mean, all I’m asking is to go to bed at maybe 10 or 10:30, so I’m guaranteed to sleep until 7 or 8 on the weekends…NOT 6am!
It’s basically a video parody of Black Eyed Peas’ “My Humps” by Alanis Morissette. Fu-nny! Plus, she almost made that song sound like an awesome ballade, if you don’t listen to the lyrics… Check it ouuut!
